Launched in early 2023, Coachtopia is a low-waste, circular brand with pieces made from repurposed materials like upcrafted leather and recycled cotton and nylon.

This time around, the buzzy apparel sub-brand from Coach tapped young designers to make the usually neutral and beige world of sustainability a lot more fun. The latest capsule collection features eight puffy quilted bags and accessories, two colorful graphic tees, and a hoodie, as well as a new pale-lime shade of the ’90s-inspired Ergo bag created in collaboration with graphic designer Sabrina Lau and designer Marissa Crider of Offbeat Sweet.

Do I need this?

If you’ve had your eye on the now sold-out cherry-print Ergo bag (restocking in March), you’ll be happy to know that Lau, the designer behind the airbrushed cherry motif, has applied her illustrations to cropped tees and hoodies for this collection that are worth grabbing.

“Sustainability is a blank canvas right now, but a lot of it has the same look,” Lau explains over Zoom. “A lot of neutrals and maybe some green. It didn’t have much life to it.” The designer’s goal was to continue the conversation Coach has started of making sustainability efforts more fun and approachable. And there’s no shortage of color in her work; she draws inspiration from nature and her childhood and describes her illustrations as “cute, welcoming, and warming.”

Her pieces for this drop feature her signature blended textures and cute characters like the best-friends bunny, a nod to her mom’s Chinese zodiac sign, and the floating heart. The hoodie and cropped tees are all-gender but slim-fit, so I’d suggest sizing up for a looser fit.

Also worth shopping: the accessories. The new small Ergo in pale green is a spacious shoulder bag made of up to 50 percent recycled leather scraps and regenerative leather. It snaps closed and easily fits all my essentials: phone, keys, wallet, various lip oils, and more.

Besides being really cute, the heart bag is also pretty practical. You can’t fit as much in it as the Ergo, but the shoulder bag can carry the basics snugly, and it ties closed. Since I kept a Coach bag on hand last NYFW, these will both be added to my daily bag rotation for the busy week.

Where can I get it?

The collection is available on and in select Coach stores.
