You may have noticed some posts from our friends at the Strategist on the Cut. They’ll be dropping in every now and again, sharing their expertise on the basics you don’t have time to research and the weird and wonderful things you don’t yet know you need.
Presidents’ Day is this Monday, February 15 — the day after Valentine’s Day — but the Presidents’ Day sales have already started, and many more will be rolling out over the rest of this week and weekend. So for the next few days, we’ll be updating this post with sales that are actually worth paying attention to this long weekend, so keep checking back. (And don’t miss our guide to the best Presidents’ Day mattress sales; there are a lot of them.)
These are technically being called Valentine’s Day deals, but since Amazon’s Device Deals overlap with Presidents’ Day, we’re including them here. You can save up to 40 percent on Amazon devices, including Kindles, Fire tablets and TVs, Ring cameras and more.
It’s not technically called a Presidents’ Day sale, but since Backcountry’s Winter Yard Sale runs through the weekend, we’re including it here. And there are tons of winter clothes, accessories, and gear up to half off, whether you’re looking for cold-weather hiking gear or a fleece to get your through a few more months of pandemic-friendly outdoor hangs.
Small and major appliances are deeply discounted for Best Buy’s Appliance Presidents’ Day Sale, from a $20 discount on popular air fryers to $900 off Alexa-compatible refrigerators. Select smart TVs, like the expert-recommended Toshiba model with built-in Amazon Fire TV, below, are also on sale.
Bloomingdale’s clearance section is already stocked with great deals, but through February 15, you can get an additional 50 percent off select clearance items. There’s no code required; the discount is automatically taken in your cart.
In 2020, we named Burrow’s Nomad Sofa “The Designiest” sofa in a box on the market, with extra marks for its “incredible ease of assembly” (everything snaps into place). Through February 21, you can get 10 percent off any item on the site up to $1,799 — including the editor-approved Nomad — with code POTUS. If you spend more, you save more — $200 off $1,800, $250 off $2,200, $300 off $2,600, $400 off $3,000, and $500 off $4,000 — so it’s a good time to scoop up a coordinating Arch Nomad accent chair, too.
It’s not every day you’ll find Coach bags discounted up to $300, but through February 16, that’s exactly what you’ll find, with 75 percent off clearance items at Coach Outlet. Note: Stock is low for nearly all clearance items, so don’t dillydally.
If your closet (or pantry or home office or any other spot) could use some TLC, take advantage of The Container Store’s Elfa Sale: 30 percent off all Elfa drawer and shelf storage solutions through February 23. There are also a handful of smaller sales going on right now: 15 percent off hangers, 20 percent off shoe storage, 20 percent off Montauk Collection baskets, 20 percent off Bungee office chairs, and 25 percent off Bisley file cabinets, among others.
When we asked interior designers and event planners for their top place-mat recommendations, Mindy Weiss told us about the ezpz Happy Mat — a silicone place mat made specifically for kids that suctions to the table and is “a lifesaver for families during cleanup.” Through February 15, get 20 percent off the Happy Mat and all of ezpz’s other kid-friendly eating accessories with code LOVE20.
Two sales to check out at the Home Depot this weekend: First, get 30 percent off select air fryers. You can also save 30 percent on select furniture, mattresses, and decor — including a full-body massage chair that feels like the perfect response to 2020.
Work-from-home is here to stay for a while longer, so if you’ve begrudgingly been making do without a monitor or printer for the past year, now’s your chance to get those at-home office essentials at HP for up to 45 percent off.
Levi jeans are always worth the money: Just ask the many cool people who have recommended them to us over the years. But you can get them — and everything else at Levi’s, like face masks and denim jackets — for 30 percent off with code PREZ30 through February 21.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, over 800 lingerie items are up to 50 percent off in Macy’s Lingerie Sale, which runs through February 21. You’ll find bras and underwear, of course, but also things like waffle loungewear sets, casual robes, and more.
If you haven’t yet signed up to be a Madewell Insider, do that now (because it’s free). Then, shop Madewell’s Insider Event, where you can take 20 percent off a huge selection of (editor-approved) denim, purses, shoes, tees, and more through February 22 — with free shipping.
Head over to Nordstrom’s Winter Sale to get up to 50 percent off clothes and accessories from brand names like Barbour, Hunter, Madewell, Nike, and more. But don’t dillydally: Even though the sale just started, sizes and colors are selling out.
Nordstrom Rack’s already-discounted clothing and accessories are even more discounted during the store’s Clear the Rack sale: an additional 25 percent off red-tag clearance items, which are already up to 50 percent off. That’s savings of up to 75 percent on over 17,000 items, but only through February 15. Heads up: Items are going fast.
Discount designer clothing store Outnet always has reliably good sales, and this one is no different. Through February 14, use code LUNAR2021 to take 20 percent off tagged clothing items.
As always, there are tons of Presidents’ Day mattress sales, and we’ve rounded up all the best deals in one post. One deal exclusive to Strategist readers is a $225 discount on any Saatva mattress, automatically applied at checkout when you use the link below. This Classic Mattress, below, was one of our editor-selected best all-around mattresses.
For major discounts on designer clothing, head to the Designer Sale at Saks. You can get up to 70 percent off thousands of clothes and beauty products. Heads up: There’s no listed end date for this sale, so don’t stall too long.
Now through February 15, use code EXTRA25 to get an extra 25 percent off clearance items at Saks Off 5th’s Extra Cut sale.
If there’s ever been a time to stock up on all your favorite beauty items, it’s now, when some of the most popular products are up to half off at Sephora — including several Strategist favorites.
Over a thousand new styles are up to 70 percent off at Shopbop, including white sneakers from Swedish brand Tretorn.
