Wear Your New Yawk Pride With New York Magazine x Only NY’s Latest Collaboration

Almost exactly a month ago, we introduced the world to Zizmorcore — the pandemic-prompted phenomenon of New Yorkers wearing an excess of hyperlocal New York merch. On the cover, we featured a so-called merch monster styled by costume designer Miyako Bellizzi in hats, masks, scarves, and totes from dozens of city spots (Punjabi Deli, Trash and Vaudeville, and Gem Spa among them). All of which may have distracted you from our ever-so-slightly-altered New York magazine logo.

“As we thought about the phenomenon of people wearing local merch, and the special pride of being a New Yorker, we inevitably went to the classic New York accent — something we hope never dies out,” says editor-at-large Stella Bugbee, who wrote last month’s cover story. “In our research, we found vintage souvenirs with ‘New Yawk’ spelled out over the iconic 1980s skyline. That gave us the idea to make a special issue that altered our own logo. It’s both an homage and a playful tweak on a classic.” Starting today, you can wear that altered “New Yawk” logo on your chest — on either a hoodie or a t-shirt (or both, if you like to layer).

This is our third collaboration with the local streetwear brand Only NY. And if you want a chance to show off your New Yawk pride, we recommend you don’t dillydally: The first drop of this collection sold out in just 15 minutes, and it’s available on backorder for the next 24 hours.

The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
