Elyssa Goodman is a New York–based writer and photographer specializing in nonfiction writing and documentary photography. She writes under the arts-and-culture umbrella, with specialties in drag and photography. She has been a freelance writer for nearly 20 years and a freelance photographer for over a decade. In addition to the Cut, her writing and photography have been published in Vogue, Vanity Fair, T:The New York Times Style Magazine, The New Yorker, Playboy, them., Artforum, Elle, i-D, and many others. Elyssa has been a devotee of drag for nearly 30 years, and her first book, Glitter and Concrete: A Cultural History of Drag in New York City, was named a 2024 Stonewall Honor Book. She is also the host and curator of the Miss Manhattan Non-Fiction Reading Series and a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University.
