The Fug Girls Present Their Biannual Fashion Week Awards for the Fourth TimeJust when we thought Fashion Week held no more surprises, we discovered that, as usual, we were wrong. After all, if sharing air space with K-Fed, J.Lo, and Liza Minnelli (L.Mi?) wasn’t enough to shake us out of our jaded, hard-hearted cynicism for a moment, nothing is. And though the last eight days were often exhausting and occasionally eye-crossing, they were also, as ever, tremendously fun. Here are a few highlights:

Max Azria Launched Three Collections. Now He Dances!Max Azria, the design world’s most adorable happy little man, just completed the très impressive feat of launching three different collections (BCBG, Hervé Léger, and Max Azria) in the span of four days. How was he holding up at the end?

You Go, Minka Kelly! We were surprised when we spotted Minka Kelly — who plays Friday Night Lights’ resident Jesus freak, Lyla — sitting front row at the Doo.Ri show yesterday for two reasons.

Critics Herald DVF, Send a Chill to DKNYBig Names are showing daily, and the critics are quick to praise or pick apart. Diane Von Furstenberg’s femme-fatale look was lauded, but Max Azria’s resurrection of the Hervé Léger label was mixed. Jonathan Saunders charmed most reviewers, but not Cathy Horyn. And Donna Karan’s time-traveling collection was confusing to all but WWD.

Bubble YumThe hemline on the miniskirt is changing again. And since they can’t get any shorter (or can they?), they’re getting fuller this time with a bubble hem. Costello Tagliapietra gathered her hem on a dip-dye skirt; Donna Karan added a briochelike touch to several pattern dresses; and Hervé Léger used the bubble hem to deviate from a collection of second-skin dresses. Feeling bubbly yet?

In the Tents, You’re Important If You Say You AreWe’ve no shortage of observations and anecdotes from this morning’s Hérve Léger show, and here’s one more: When we arrived, we intercepted a tall redhead sporting an accent and a cream-colored Léger dress. “I just want to make sure I’m in a good seat,” she told her handler.

Lots of Celebs, Tight Dresses at Morning Léger ShowYou’d think that the one thing you wouldn’t have to worry about with Hervé Léger’s iconic bandage dresses would be having any of your body parts fall out, but tell that to Joy Bryant’s nipple, which we inadvertantly spied peeking out of her tangerine frock as we squeezed past her at the Léger show this morning.

Hervé Léger Wins When Simple, Tight, and SexyIf there were any doubts about whom the Hervé Léger collection is for, they were laid to rest this morning in Bryant Park. At 11 a.m., the front row of the Léger show was lined with celebrities of the WB variety (who is Sophia Bush, anyway? That’s Fug Girl territory) in full-out hair (updos! hot-roller curls!), makeup, bare legs, and four-inch heels.
