Ann Watson of Henri Bendel Likes Tuleh and Y-3In today’s installment, Henri Bendel fashion director Ann Watson loves Y-3’s reworked classics; DVF’s colors and prints; and Tuleh’s sheath dresses.
Check MateIt seems plaid has finally grown out of its angry flannel phase — unlike your hipster boyfriend. This Fashion Week, grunge’s mainstay looks relaxed and fluid. Y-3 used the nineties pattern in bright orange and yellow from head to toe, while Peter Som belted his gray and black patterned coat. And Preen used it as an accent to otherwise sleek looks.
Fashion Report Card: Loving Ralph, But Not Necessarily RodarteFashion Week hardly slowed down for the weekend, and the critics were indefatigable as usual. Ralph Lauren’s 40th-anniversary show received universal praise, but the critics got a little crankier at Y-3, and Rodarte inspired another round of the Great Wearability Debate.

Samuel L. Jackson at a Motherfugging Y-3 ShowThematically, the Y-3 show was all about the downpour: Fake thunder rolled, minions turned a hose on the runway to create puddles, and simulated rain poured outside and down the walls of the artsy Chelsea space. Unfortunately, this cleansing drizzle didn’t reach the ratty head of actor Vincent Gallo, who sat front row in his personal grease puddle. At first Gallo just stared menacingly into middle distance, scratching his matted beard, seemingly in the midst of plotting the best way to rip off someone’s extremities with his teeth. But then Gallo turned cheerful, and we soon saw why: A wee Lord & Taylor bag — clearly swag from another show — dangled from his claws. Obviously, the sweet fumes of a department-store gift card were lifting his dour mood. We’re sure he was positively dizzy with the prospect of going necktie shopping.

Fashion Report Card: Calvin and Vera Rise to the Top
Proenza Schouler and Michael Kors were the critics’ kings yesterday. Today, reviews are pouring in for Vera Wang, Y-3, Calvin Klein, and Anna Sui. Did Vera’s Bolsheviks win the revolution? Or did Yohji’s sporty Y-3 score points?
the fab life
Fabiola, Tinsley, and Cuba Gooding Jr. Scream for ‘Nookie!’Wednesday’s installment of the Fab Life is an epic. Riding the Fashion Week whirlwind, Fabiola hits five shows, arranges to host the Radar relaunch, chats up Zinedine Zidane, and has an unfortunate encounter with a can of Coke Zero.
9 a.m. Woke up to Vera Wang and Calvin Klein garment bags for the shows tomorrow. But I had to try on the looks later, as I had Michael Kors at 10 a.m. and an interview with the Palm Beach Post (for CIRCA) to do before that!

Y-3 Has Them Falling Out of Their Seats
We’re sure the idea to hold the Y-3 show in the gymnasium at Hunter College made a lot of sense at the time. The athletic venue dovetailed nicely with the sporty collection, which with its track-pants and slouchy sweaters and peacoats reminded us of something the richest kid at your college would wear out to the gym on a cold day. It was cute the way the time clock counted down to the start of the show, and we certainly appreciated the popcorn and spiked sodas. On the other hand, sitting on the bleachers wasn’t fun ten years ago, and it’s even less fun when you’re surrounded by people who are all either bigger than your typical student or wrapped in bigger, furrier, more expensive coats.

Ten Things We Liked on WednesdayFrom left, Proenza Schouler, Y-3, Anna Sui.Photos: imaxtree.com
1. Avion Feminin a small, quiet and brand new line showing by appointment only in the West Village. It’s exactly the pared-down cool that girls who really live and work in New York want. We’re crossing our fingers that some clever boutique will snap it up.
2. The exploded high-tops and collared hoodie at Y-3.
3. It was a little bit warmer today. We liked that.
